Practice/Mission/Vision Statement
From PK3 through Grade 12, since 1878, University Liggett School has been at the forefront of independent school education in southeast Michigan. The school's aim is to develop the total personality on a base of unquestioned academic excellence.
The Liggett tradition of excellence is delivered through a strong, college preparatory curriculum, enhanced by innovative, handson, reallife experiences. Our Reggio Emilia Early Childhood Philosophy, emphasis on Inquiry and a solid core curriculum throughout the Lower, Middle and Upper School is enhanced by opportunities in athletics, service, leadership and the Arts.
Our size allows our students to participate on a meaningful level in all facets of the community and receive recognition for their efforts. Teachers will notice not just how intellects are developing, but also when a kindergartener gets a new haircut, when a sixth grader is in a somber mood, and when a twelfth grader is expecting a letter from a college. Knowing each other well helps create the special bonds at the core of our community and a learning environment unparalleled in its opportunities for engagement and achievement.
